Let's be honest, everyone at some point in their life has tried to chase a butterfly simply because it was so beautiful. But what if our children or our great grandchildren never get this simple yet so universal experience simply because we are careless? Well due to an increase in the use of pesticides we are endangering these truly mesmerizing creatures. Though it is not only pesticides that are leading to an overall decline in all butterflies populations, it is also the combination of pesticides, habitat destruction, and climate change. These all can be traced back to human activities so unless we take a moment to work towards changing these harmful habits we risk not only loss of butterflies, but a domino effect of many drastic negative impacts at the loss of butterflies.
To be honest since I was a small child I have always loved butterflies, but after reading the article about the decline in their population I became genuinely worried, I only hope that others share this similar love of butterflies and by extension, this similar worry.
